Teaser: Nissan Sport Sedan Concept (Maxima?)

Nissan just released a teaser photo of its Sport Sedan Concept. The concept vehicle will make its debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

The Sport Sedan Concept will be joined by the Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO concepts. Nissan hasn't given any details on the concept other than that it offers a look at a future production sports sedan. All three concept vehicles will be revealed on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 3:50 p.m. EST.

The Green Light: I'm guessing that this concept vehicle will likely display what the next generation Maxima will look like. The Maxima's design has become dated and is in need of a BIG change. The teaser shows a very aggressive front fascia which looks good. I'm sure that Nissan will reveal more teaser images of this concept before its official reveal at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

What are your thoughts on Sport Sedan Concept teaser?

The Ford Motor Company: 2014 Plans

2013 has been a great year for Ford! At a recent media event Ford announced an aggressive growth plan
for 2014.

There will be 23 new vehicles launched worldwide in 2014, 16 of those vehicles are for the North American market. Ford received a lot of praise for the recently revealed 2015 Mustang. Other vehicles slated for release are the Lincoln MKC, Transit, and Transit Connect. In the second-quarter of 2014, production of the all-new Transit will begin at Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant.

By 2017, Ford will put its start-stop technology in about 70% of its higher-volume models.

Two new EcoBoost engines will hit the market, 1.0L EcoBoost I-3 and 2.3L EcoBoost inline-four. The 1.0L EcoBoost will find its way into the Ford Fiesta, while the 2.3L EcoBoost will likely make its way into the 2015 Mustang and Lincoln MKC.

Ford unveiled the Ford Fusion Hybrid Research vehicle. With LiDAR, the Fusion is able to generate a real-time 3D map of the surrounding environment. Ford developed the research vehicle with the University of Michigan and the State Farm Insurance Company, as part of its Blueprint for Mobility program.

Ford plans to add more than 5000 jobs in the U.S. Of the new jobs 3,300 will be salaried positions.

Revealed: 2015 Ford Mustang

Ford has officially unveiled the 2015 Ford Mustang!!! The sixth generation Mustang marks the 50th anniversary of the Mustang. The Mustang now features an Integral-link independent rear suspension instead of a live rear axle.

The look of the new Mustang is really refreshing and a departure from past designs. The designers of the 2015 Mustang were able to bring together past and present design cues. The new Mustang definitely looks the best from the side. I've never been a big fan of the interior in the Mustang, it is great to see a more luxurious interior. Ford hit the nail on the head with the exterior and interior of the all-new Mustang.

"You only get one chance to make a first impression, and when you see this car you immediately see a
Mustang strong and true." said Moray Callum, Ford executive director, design, The Americas.

The current 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8 will carry over and now be joined by an all-new 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The 2.3L EcoBoost engine will offer more power and better fuel economy than the base V6. Buyers will have a choice of a 6-speed Getrag manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission regardless of engine choice.

The Mustang gets keyless entry, push-button start, driving-mode selector, adaptive cruise control, MyFord Touch, and a track app on GT models.

There is still information that hasn't been released about the 2015 Ford Mustang. But be sure to check back for all the new details.

What are your thoughts on the 2015 Ford Mustang?

Honda-Loving Couple Gets The Wedding of Their Dreams!

When Honda heard about a wedding happening in a family that owns over 20 Hondas, they decided to treat the happy engaged couple to something big. The Couple, Mairead and Kevin had asked a local Honda dealer to loan them three black CR-Vs for the bridal party, but Honda had something bigger in mind. They sent eight CR-Vs to the wedding, each packed with memories from the history of their relationship-the band they heard on their first date, Irish step dancers and gifts from their registry delivered by relatives flown in from Ireland.

Check out this amazing surprise!:

Revealed: 2015 Cadillac Escalade

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade was revealed last night in New York City. The fourth generation Escalade has been completely redesigned inside and out. Cadillac will definitely shake up the large luxury SUV class with this all-new Escalade.

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade will be powered by a 6.2L V8 engine, producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated to a Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission. The Escalade will be available in 2WD and 4WD configurations. Fuel economy is expected to increase over the last generation model through the use of Direct injection, cylinder deactivation, continuously variable valve timing, and active grille shutters.

The exterior of the 2015 Escalade is really attractive and works! The interior of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is 100x better than the previous generation. This is an interior that you would want to spend a lot of time in. I am not a big fan of column mounted shifters and wish Cadillac would have used the shifters from their other models. That is the only thing that I feel takes away from the luxury look of the cabin. Cadillac's CUE system also makes its way into the new Escalade. Available features include Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Safety Alert Seat, Adaptive cruise control, front and rear braking, and Automatic Collision Preparation.

The 2015 Escalade will go into production next Spring at GM's Arlington, Texas factory. The next generation Escalade should hit showroom floors by next summer.

Do you like the look of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade?

The Green Light: The 2014 Rogue is a move in the right direction and should definitely see its sales rise. The overall design of the new Rogue is 100 times better than the last generation Rogue. It will be interesting to see how the all-new Rogue competes against the other vehicles in its class. The all-new Rogue will hit dealerships in November.

Revealed: Cadillac Elmiraj Concept

Cadillac has hit another home run with their Elmiraj Concept. I was a BIG fan of the Ciel Concept and was very upset that it never got the "green light" (no pun intended!). Cadillac revealed the Elmiraj Concept at this year's Pebble Beach Concours. The Elmiraj, a grand coupe does not tease future models but displays future designs from Cadillac.

Based on the pictures, the Elmiraj is just beautiful to look at. The concept was designed by Cadillac's North Hollywood Studio. The Elmiraj's black grille really stands out and shows a new Cadillac crest, which is now wreathless. Powering the Elmiraj concept is an all-new 4.5L twin-turbo V8 engine producing around 500 hp. Power from this engine will be sent to the rear wheels.

The interior of the Elmiraj has a 2+2 layout with high performance seats. The seats have a "valet" feature that
slides the front seat 10 inches forward and the rear seat 4 inches forward for easier access. There are analog gauges as well as a 10-inch touchscreen.

The Green Light: As we all know Cadillac is known for not giving their great concept designs the go! I am hoping that the Elmiraj breaks that trend and goes into production. I love the designs that are coming from Cadillac and hope that they continue designing great vehicles.

What are your thoughts on the Elmiraj? Do you think Cadillac will ever put it into production?

Revealed: 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 4MATIC

Mercedes-Benz has revealed their new compact crossover, the GLA-Class. The 2015 GLA-Class will
make its debut at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in September. The GLA250 4MATIC will go on sale in the U.S. in the fall of 2014. A front-while drive version will join the lineup in early 2015. When the GLA250 go on sale it will compete against the BMW X1, Range Rover Evoque, and upcoming new comers like the Lincoln MKC and Audi Q3.

The GLA definitely takes its design cues from the SUV's of the Mercesdes-Benz family. The design of the GLA is attractive, and muscular. The exterior will attract many buyers who want a vehicle that looks aggressive than what is currently on the market.

The interior of the GLA is refreshing and reminds me of other current Mercedes-Benz interiors. Buyers can choose between MB-Tex or leather upholstery, and can get sport seats with the purchase of the Interior Package.

The 2015 GLA250 4MATIC will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L engine producing 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0L engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The GLA250 4MATIC will be able to reach 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. The new GLA will use a next generation 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system. Fuel economy should be a high point of the GLA, with the use of the 7-speed dual clutch transmission, aerodynamic design, and standard Start/Stop feature.

Safety features such as Attention Assist drowsy-driver detection, and a radar based Collision Prevention Assist with Adaptive Brake Assist, which will protect against collision from a speed of 4 mph. Other safety features include Blind Spot and Lane Keeping Assist. If you're not confident with parallel parking, a Parktronic with Park Assist system will also be an option.

Maserati Levante Details

The Maserati Levante will arrive in showrooms in 2015. The Levante will take design cues from the Kubang concept that was revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new SUV will ride on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango.

Buyers will be able to choose from the same engines found in the new Ghibli and Quattroporte: 3.0L V6 producing 410 hp, a 3.8L V8 producing 530 hp, and a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel engine producing 275 hp. Each of these engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Power from the engines will be sent to all four wheels using Maserati's all-wheel drive system.

I really liked the design of the Kubang concept and hope that the Levante keeps that aggressive look.

'13 NY Auto Show: Interview with James Bell, Head of Consumer Affairs, General Motors

I recently interviewed James Bell, Head of Consumer Affairs, General Motors during the 2013 New York International Auto Show. 2013 NY Auto Show: 2014 Buick LaCrosse and Regal

The Buick Regal and LaCrosse have been refreshed for the 2014 model year. Both models will be on display at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. The Regal and LaCrosse receive styling changes, and other adjustments for 2014.

The 2014 Regal and LaCrosse get a revised chrome grille and standard LED daytime running lights. New
safety and alert systems include: forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and a following-distance indicator.

The Regal will be available with two engine choices. The base engine is a 2.4L direct injection 4-cylinder engine with eAssist. The 2.4L engine is good for 182 horespower and 172 lb-ft of torque. The Regal Turbo and Regal GS will use a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, that now produces 250 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Compared to last year's models, the Turbo gains 39 hp and 35 lb-ft of torque, while the GS loses 11 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard and a 6-speed manual is optional on turbocharged Regals. Models with 2.0L engine and 6-speed automatic transmission is now offered with the Haldex AWD system.

The LaCrosse's power will carry over from last year's model. Buyers will be able to choose from the 3.6L V6 or the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with eAssist. All LaCrosse models get improved aerodynamics with the use of active grille shutters.

What are your thoughts on the refreshed 2014 Buick Regal and LaCrosse?

2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid

Infiniti will unveil the 2014 QX60 (formerly JX35) Hybrid at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. The new QX60 Hybrid will use a new gas-electric hybrid system that Infiniti calls Direct Response Hybrid. Infiniti is ditching the 3.5L V6 for a 2.5L supercharged 4-cylinder engine paired with a 15 kw electric motor. The 4-cylinder engine and electric motor is expected to produce around 250 horsepower. Like the non-hybrid version Infiniti will use a CVT. Buyers will be able to select either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The QX60 Hybrid will achieve 26 miles per gallon combined city and highway driving. The battery pack is placed under the third row to allow as much cargo space as the non-hybrid version.

The 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid will go on sale this summer. The hybrid QX60 is expected to cost around $3,000 more than the non-hybrid version. The QX60 Hybrid will be the second hybrid in Infiniti's lineup, joining the Q70 Hybrid (formerly M35 Hybrid). More details will be revealed at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, which opens to the public on March 29th.

Revealed: 2014 Jeep Cherokee

The new 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been revealed! The look of the new midsize crossover is definitely different than the Liberty model it replaces. The Jeep Cherokee will deliver 45 percent better fuel economy over the Liberty. It has been rumored that the Liberty's replacement would receive a 4 cylinder engine and/or a toned down version of the Pentastar V6 engine. A 9-speed automatic transmission may also debut in the new Cherokee model. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee will make its official debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show and will go on sale later this year.

The Green Light: I LOVE the look of the new Jeep Cherokee! The Nissan JUKE must have been on the designer's minds when the Cherokee was designed, which isn't a bad thing. As a JUKE owner I do not have a problem with the quirky design. I've had a chance to look at some comments and a lot of people seem to be split on the design which doesn't shock me. Many people who dislike the design feel that it is the worst designed Jeep which I disagree with. But people are entitled to their opinions and not everyone have the same tastes. With the way that the automotive industry is going, I am not surprised with the changes that were made to the Cherokee. I think the changes will help the Cherokee achieve the sales that Chrysler is looking for. I can't wait for all of the specs and to get behind the wheel of the new Jeep Cherokee.

What do you think of the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

Interview: (Chevy Cruze 2.0TD) James Bell, Head of Consumer Affairs, General Motors

I recently interviewed James Bell, Head of Consumer Affairs, General Motors during the Chicago Auto Show. Our interview focused on the new 2014 Chevy Cruze Turbo Diesel. With over 16 years of experience, James Bell is a nationally recognized and authoritative resource within the automotive industry. During his tenure, James has diligently analyzed and effectively communicated automotive data and research to multiple constituencies, including the national and international media, automotive manufacturers, dealers, and the every-day shopper. His multifaceted experience has led to a unique perspective on the industry that easily crosses over the boundaries between the general consumer and passionate enthusiast. Prior to joining GM, James was Vice President of Corporate Communications and Executive Market Analyst for Kelley Blue Book. In this role, he was charged with promoting the KBB.com brand and driving traffic to its award-winning Web site. Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communications and Political Science from California State University.

My questions:

There are so many alternative fuel vehicles available, how can consumers determine what's best for them?

Diesel engines have been around for quite some time, why do you think the evolution of clean diesel may be something consumers embrace?

Diesel cars make up 50% of car sales in Europe? Why have Europeans embraced diesel vehicles so much quicker than us?

Tell us about the new Chevy Cruze 2.0TD. What does it offer consumers that other alternative fuel vehicles do not?

In what scenario, would diesel be a better option than gasoline for a family?

I want to thank General Motors for this interview opportunity! I also want to thank James Bell for taking the time to answer my questions. I really hope to get the chance to get behind the wheel of the Chevy Cruze 2.0TD. The 2014 Chevy Cruze Turbo Diesel will arrive in dealerships this summer.
