Teased: SRT Viper

SRT released a teaser shot of the interior of the 2013 SRT Viper. It will be the only photo shown until the 2013 SRT Viper's reveal next week at the New York Auto Show.

I am really happy that Chrysler did not sell off the Viper. This is the one vehicle that I can't wait to see next week. The Chrysler Group has been very quiet about the new Viper but I know that they will deliver an amazing car. From what I can see of the interior, it looks really nice.

2013 Chevy Traverse

The Chevy Traverse has been refreshed for the 2013 model year. The most notable changes are at the front of the CUV and inside the cabin. The Traverse will be offered in three trim levels: LS, LT, and LTZ.

The Traverse is still powered by a direct-injection 3.6L V6 engine which pushes out 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be mated to a revised 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is an option. Standard safety features include a rearview backup camera, ABS, head curtain airbags, and hill start assist.

I am really impressed with GM lately. I like the revised GMC Acadia, and I now like the revised Traverse. I think that the Traverse looks really good, it really stands out now. I am glad GM is done with those horrible interiors that was throughout all of the brands.

The 2013 Chevy Traverse will go on sale later this year.

What do you think of the revised Chevy Traverse?

Teased: 2013 Lexus ES

The sixth-generation of the Lexus ES will be unveiled next week at the 2012 New York Auto Show. Lexus has released a teaser image of the 2013 ES. In the teaser the front end of the ES looks very similar to the Lexus GS.

The new Lexus face is very attractive on the GS but I am not crazy about how it looks on the other Lexus models. I did not really care for the current ES because I thought it aged really fast and was not an attractive vehicle.

What do you think of the new corporate face?

Are you considering the 2013 Lexus ES?

Concept: 2013 Acura RLX

Luxury automaker Acura will reveal its new flagship sedan, the RLX next week at the 2012 New York auto show. This model will offer a new V6 engine or a V6 hybrid system with all-wheel drive. The production version of the RLX will go on sale in the fall. The RLX will replace the aging and forgettable RL sedan.

I'm not a big fan of Acura toning down the design language of their vehicles. I really liked the "beak" because it made their cars bold and stand out. But I guess for sale reasons Acura had to. I am really interested in seeing the RLX concept at  NY Auto Show. I'm hoping that Acura blows me away with the RLX!

What are your thoughts on Acura and the current RL?

Are you looking forward to the new RLX flagship sedan?

2013 Ford Explorer Sport

Ford will release a performance version of the Explorer later this year. The Explorer Sport will have a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine making 350 hp. This engine will be paired with a paddle-shifted 6-speed Select-Shift Automatic transmission. The Sport will come standard with 4-wheel drive featuring a Terrain Management System.

Explorer chief engineer, Bill Gubins stated "Adding an EcoBoost drivetrain to the Explorer Sport delivers even more fuel efficiency and performance to the line up." "This is our highest-performance, most capable Ford Explorer ever."

The chassis has been reworked to make the Explorer Sport stiffer and to improve its handling. The fuel economy of the Explorer Sport is rated at up to 16 mpg city and 22 highway.

The Explorer Sport will have tons of standard and optional technologies. Some standard and optional technologies include:
*Dual Zone Temperature Control
*SYNC with MyFord Touch
*10-way power driver's seat with power recline and lumbar
*Rear view camera

I have to say that I like how Ford is putting the name of the model on the hood of the vehicle!

What do you think of the Ford Explorer Sport?

Would you consider buying one?

Hyundai: Updated Genesis in '13 and a new Sonata in '14

According to Hyundai there will be a new Sonata sedan coming in 2014. The current Sonata was launched in 2010 in the United States. The Sonata competes with the Camry, Altima, Accord, and Fusion. It is Hyundai's top-selling model in the U.S.

Hyundai plans to launch an updated Genesis sedan by 2013. The Genesis made it's introduction in the United States in 2009.

I am a big fan of the current Sonata because overall it is a great vehicle. This is a pretty quick redesign but I guess Hyundai feels they have to keep the Sonata updated so they can increase/steal sales. The new Genesis coupe is a great looking car so I'm sure the update Genesis sedan will look just as good. I think that Hyundai has been doing a great job and they know what they are doing.

Datsun?

Nissan is going to bring back the Datsun brand. Datsun vehicles will be sold in India, Indonesia, and Russia in 2014. Datsun will focus on affordable and reliable small cars.

Datsun made it's debut in 1932 in Japan. The Datsun name was discontinued globally in 1981 in favor of Nissan. It will be Nissan's third global brand (Nissan, Infiniti). Datsun won't make it's return to the United States.

I have always heard good things about Datsun growing up. I do remember that my grandmother's 1984 Nissan Maxima (Datsun 810)  had both the Nissan and Datsun names on the car. The Datsun 240Z is still one of my favorite cars, I've always thought it was a great car.

Should Nissan bring the Datsun brand back to the U.S.?

What are your memories and thoughts of Datsun?

Bentley EXP 9 F Concept

Bentley revealed the EXP 9 F Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. This is Bentley's first SUV and it takes it design cues from the rest of the family. The EXP 9 F is all wheel drive and features an 8-speed transmission. The SUV rides on 23 inch wheels, has a panoramic roof, and is powered by a twin-turbo 6.0L W12 that produces 600 hp.

Dirk van Braeckel who is Director of Designs stated, “EXP 9 F had to represent the absolute pinnacle of the sport utility sector, setting a new benchmark for this type of vehicle. The style had to reflect Bentley’s sporting character despite its radically different package and purpose together with sculptured, flowing surfaces in keeping with the Bentley tradition.”

I am not in love with the exterior design. I love SUV's but I just do not like the EXP 9 F. I will say that the interior of this car is BEAUTIFUL! The interior is where this Bentley really shines. I do not know if this will be successful but I'm sure there are quite a few people who are interested in this vehicle. Bentley is quite late to the SUV segment with the EXP 9 F and it has some catching up to do.

Teased: 2013 Nissan Altima

The 2013 Nissan Altima will debut at the New York International Auto Show in April. Nissan has released an 8 second YouTube clip of the redesigned Altima. The design of the new Altima will be very different from the current model. It seems that there are styling cues from the Maxima and the new Pathfinder. I just hope that the Altima doesn't look very similar to the Maxima as it did the last generation.

Check out the clip here:

Nissan released a teaser of the front end of the 2013 Altima:
