Revealed: Mazda RX-VISION Concept

At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda unveiled the RX-VISION Concept. The RX-VISION Concept is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car.

The RX-VISION Concept is powered by a next generation Skyactiv-R rotary engine. The full specs on the Skyactiv-R rotary engine hasn't been revealed yet. With the Skyactiv-R rotary engine, shows that Mazda is still committed to its signature rotary sports car engine.

I'm a big fan of Mazda's design language and the RX-VISION Concept does not disappoint. The front end of the concept is bold and falls in line with the rest of Mazda's lineup. The RX-VISION Concept's interior based on the photos is simple and screams sports car.

Hopefully Mazda will release more information regarding the Skyactiv-R rotary engine that powers the RX-VISION Concept.

What are your thoughts on the Mazda RX-VISION Concept?

Road Safety This Summer with Chip Wade, HGTV Star and DIY Handyman

Over half of Americans will be taking a road trip this summer, with about a third visiting a new destination--a trend that is being led by Millennials. Liberty Mutual Insurance's New Beginnings Report revealed that while 66 percent of Americans say they check tire pressure before a road trip, only a quarter check the pressure in their spare tire. Nearly a 28 percent of Americans also do not have a cell phone charger in their car and 45 percent don't check that proper emergency items are in the car.

HGTV host Chip Wade provides DIY tips to make sure your automobiles are in shape for road trips. Check out our interview below:

Atlanta native Chip Wade is a master handyman who began working with his father at an early age - and over the years developed an interest in DIY auto maintenance, carpentry, landscaping and renovation. Chip began his media career in 2007 with HGTV's Designed to Sell. Since then Chip has appeared on HGTV's Curb Appeal: The Block, HGTV's Showdown, HGTV's Design Star, HGTV's Ellen's Design Challenge, Oprah, WSJ Live and CNN. As the host, designer and contractor on his newest series, Elbow Room, Chip is there from concept through construction to show HGTV and DIY viewers how to customize their spaces and transform garages, bedrooms, living spaces and more that perfectly suit their lifestyle.

What are some of your road safety tips?

I want to thank Liberty Mutual for this interview opportunity! I also want to thank Chip Wade for taking out the time to discuss and answer my questions. For more information visit: LibertyMutual.com/NewBeginning.

The "Father's Day Redo" video follows in the footsteps of Toyota's popular Super Bowl commercials that featured NFL stars, DeMarcus Ware, Fred Jackson and Kurt Warner. Toyota is aiming to reinforce their commitment to fathers leading into the holiday. They're also encouraging people to do the same by tagging photos of their dads using the hashtag #OneBoldChoice.

Check out Toyota's Father's Day Redo video below:

Revealed: Ferrari 488 GTB

Ferrari unveiled the 488 GTB last night in downtown Manhattan, for the first time in the U.S. The 488 GTB is the successor to the highly praised 458. The 488 GTB is powered by a turbocharged V8, producing 660 horsepower. There is ZERO turbo-lag and the 488 hits 0-60 in just 3 seconds.

The Ferrari 488 GTB looks great on the inside and outside. You get a better appreciation of the craftsmanship that has gone into the new 488 seeing it in person. I'm sure people are lining up to put in their reservations for the 488, as the car is lighter and more powerful.

What are your thoughts on the Ferrari 488 GTB?

First Drive: 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid & Plug-In Hybrid

I have to start off by saying that I really enjoyed the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid! I had the opportunity to drive the 2016 Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid on the roads of beautiful Southern California. The Sonata Hybrid is offered in SE, Limited and Limited Ultimate trims. The Plug-in offers Base and Limited versions. The Sonata Hybrid Plug-in has an all electric top speed of 75 mph and an EV range of approximately 24 miles.

Exterior
The seventh generation Sonata receives a series of functional changes to the front and rear fascia for the 2016 Hybrid. The exterior changes allows the Sonata Hybrid to achieve a coefficient of drag to 0.24. The only other vehicle in its class tat has a 0.24 coefficient of drag is the Tesla Model S. The Hybrid receives a unique larger grille, front and rear bumpers, front fenders, front and rear lights, chrome side sill moldings, Hybrid badging, and new eco-spoke allow wheels.

Interior
The interior of the Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid is not as stylish as the exterior. Once inside of the vehicles I was able to find a comfortable seating position. The center stack has a clean design and everything is within reach from the driver's seat. The cabin features quality materials, and soft touch surfaces, which is always a plus. The infotainment system is not complicated and easy to use. The Sonata Hybrid offers best-in class cargo volume at 13.3 cu-ft. 60/40 split-folding rear seats are available thanks to the battery pack fitting under the truck floor.

Tech
There is no shortage of technology in the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid. Now available is Hyundai's hands-free smart trunk, electronic parking brake, driver memory seat, rear window sunshades, heated steering wheel, LED interior lights, ventilated front seats, power front seats with 4-way adjustable driver lumbar and smart cruise control. Two of my favorite features are the ventilated front seats and the smart cruise control. While driving the Plug-in Hybrid, I set the smart cruise control system and was extremely impressed for the 30 mile drive. This was my first time using this type of feature in a vehicle and now I wish my current car had it.

Safety
The 2016 model comes standard with seven air bags, including a new driver's knew air bag. Also standard is Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Traction Control, ABS, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and a backup camera. Buyers can also get advanced safety technologies such as Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist and Lane Departure Warning System.

Charging (Plug-in Hybrid)
120-volt (Level 1): < 9 hours
240-volt (Level 2): < 3 hours

Under the Hood
The Hybrid is powered by a 2.0L Nu GDI 4-cylinder engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai wanted a nature feeling transmission, so a CVT wasn't an option. The 2.0L engine produces 154 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor produces 51 hp (38kW) for a combined output of 193 hp. The Plug-in Hybrid uses the same 2.0L engine, but a stronger electric motor that produces 67 hp. The combined output for the Plug-in Hybrid is 202 hp.

Behind the Wheel
The first thing I did once I got in the Sonata Hybrid, I opened the panoramic sunroof. Once on the road I was able to fully enjoy both models. Visibility out of the Sonata is quite good and the blind-spot system helped me out when I couldn't see vehicles on the side of me. The steering in the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid was surprising good and I really didn't have any complaints about how the vehicles handled.  I was really impressed with how comfortable and smooth the ride in the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid are. Performance was not the goal of the Sonata Hybrids, which are tuned for luxury. While on the highway, the cabin remains quiet with very little wind-noise. While the Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in are not sport sedans, acceleration was smooth and refined. After driving the Hybrid for about 30 miles, I was able to achieve 35 mpg out of the Hybrid (while in Sport mode for majority of the time). In the Plug-in I was able to achieve 43 mpg while using Smart Cruise Control and going 75 mph.

Overall
My time spent in the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid was exciting and enjoyable. I like the Sonata Hybrid mainly because While my time in both vehicles were brief, I got a good sense of what Hyundai was looking to achieve. After driving both vehicles, I think that Hyundai has done a great job with the Sonata Hybrid siblings. Information on pricing is not available right now, but we will let you know once that information is released. The Sonata Hybrid goes on sale this summer nationwide, while the Plug-in Hybrid hits showrooms in California and Oregon this fall. The Plug-in will show up in other zero-emission vehicle states after. I look forward to getting the opportunity to spend more time in the Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid.

Live from Front Row Motorsports, Cole Whitt shares his thoughts on the upcoming Talladega Race.

This season has been most challenging for Cole, who is no longer a Rookie. He has a new team, new car and new crew. Movie: Furious 7

The Fast and Furious franchise continues to get better with each film. I really enjoyed Fast 6 and had my mind on the follow-up film. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, and the late Paul Walker return for a new adventure.

As long as there are fast cars and great action scenes, I'm all for it. I cannot wait for Furious 7 to hit theaters on April 3rd.

Check out an extended First Look at Furious 7:

2016 Nissan Maxima

The 2016 made a cameo appearance at the end of Nissan's "With Dad" Super Bowl XLIX
commercial. The 2016 Nissan Maxima, the brand's flagship product and signature "4-Door Sports Car," will make its official debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show in April.

The Maxima's dramatic styling features Nissan's new design elements - including the V-motion front end and unique "floating" roof - which appeared on the recently released 2015 Nissan Murano.

I think Nissan has done a great job with the design of the 2016 Nissan Maxima. I'm a big fan of the Maxima and it finally gets the design that it deserves. My only hope is that Nissan gives the 2016 Maxima the torque vectoring all-wheel drive system in the Juke.

Do you like the new design of the 2016 Nissan Maxima?
