Revealed: Mazda RX-VISION Concept

At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda unveiled the RX-VISION Concept. The RX-VISION Concept is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car.

The RX-VISION Concept is powered by a next generation Skyactiv-R rotary engine. The full specs on the Skyactiv-R rotary engine hasn't been revealed yet. With the Skyactiv-R rotary engine, shows that Mazda is still committed to its signature rotary sports car engine.

I'm a big fan of Mazda's design language and the RX-VISION Concept does not disappoint. The front end of the concept is bold and falls in line with the rest of Mazda's lineup. The RX-VISION Concept's interior based on the photos is simple and screams sports car.

Hopefully Mazda will release more information regarding the Skyactiv-R rotary engine that powers the RX-VISION Concept.

What are your thoughts on the Mazda RX-VISION Concept?

The Mini Convertible is  4.5 inches longer and 1.7 inches wider than the Cooper hardtop. There is 25 percent more cargo room, that allows more luggage in the back.

A 6.5 inch Mini Connected system is standard, but a 8.8 inch display with navigation is also available. The convertible will be offered with different drive modes, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, collision mitigation, parking assistance, rearview camera, and much more.

The Mini Convertible is powered by BMW-developed new generation 1.5L inline three-cylinder engine that produces 134 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The Cooper S trim gets 189 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic is optional, but both models come standard with a six-speed manual transmission.

Pricing for the new Convertible will be announced in January. The new Mini convertible will arrive at U.S. dealerships next March.
