2013 has been a great year for Ford! At a recent media event Ford announced an aggressive growth plan
for 2014.
There will be 23 new vehicles launched worldwide in 2014, 16 of those vehicles are for the North American market. Ford received a lot of praise for the recently revealed 2015 Mustang. Other vehicles slated for release are the Lincoln MKC, Transit, and Transit Connect. In the second-quarter of 2014, production of the all-new Transit will begin at Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant.
By 2017, Ford will put its start-stop technology in about 70% of its higher-volume models.
Two new EcoBoost engines will hit the market, 1.0L EcoBoost I-3 and 2.3L EcoBoost inline-four. The 1.0L EcoBoost will find its way into the Ford Fiesta, while the 2.3L EcoBoost will likely make its way into the 2015 Mustang and Lincoln MKC.
Ford unveiled the Ford Fusion Hybrid Research vehicle. With LiDAR, the Fusion is able to generate a real-time 3D map of the surrounding environment. Ford developed the research vehicle with the University of Michigan and the State Farm Insurance Company, as part of its Blueprint for Mobility program.
Ford plans to add more than 5000 jobs in the U.S. Of the new jobs 3,300 will be salaried positions.
